The questions we get from Westport.
How far is The Knowlton from Westport?
Under thirty minutes from Westport, either down the Merritt Parkway or along the Post Road. That is a measured free-flow drive rather than an estimate, so plan for a little more at rush hour. Parking is on site and free, with more than 200 secured spaces, so guests are not circling for a spot when they arrive.
How many guests can The Knowlton hold for a wedding?
The Boathouse is the big room, up to 350 seated or up to 500 cocktail-style, with garage doors onto the waterfront deck. The Wilder Gallery holds up to 125 seated, the Armstrong Gallery up to 86 seated or up to 125 standing. Many families use more than one across the day. Most weddings here run 120 to 200 guests.
Can we host the ceremony and the reception on site?
Yes, and most couples do. Ceremonies happen on the waterfront deck or the lawn, or indoors in the Armstrong or Wilder Gallery as the weather-protected option, then the reception moves to the Boathouse.
Is outside catering allowed?
Yes. Outside caterers are welcome and we regularly host a wide range of catering styles, including kosher and specialty caterers.
Is there parking for all of our guests?
Yes. More than 200 secured on-site spaces, free for every guest, which is genuinely rare in Fairfield County. Attendants can be arranged for larger events.
How far in advance should we book?
Most couples book 12 to 18 months ahead, especially for peak spring and autumn dates. Later dates do open up, so it is always worth asking rather than assuming.
Come walk the deck.
Tell us your date and rough guest count and we will show you the Boathouse, the galleries, the lawn and the deck, and how a day flows across them.
