Bridgeport is 60 miles from midtown Manhattan and sits on the Northeast Corridor, so guests coming from New York can take an express train or Amtrak instead of driving.

The Knowlton hosts corporate events, bar and bat mitzvahs, fundraisers, galas, weddings and private celebrations. With multiple distinct spaces, the event space is suited to both intimate gatherings and large-scale events.

Most nights move from cocktail hour into dinner and then into dancing, with the service style chosen around your guest count and how much of the night you want on the floor. The team runs the night from a set timeline, built with your planner or run in-house if you don't have one, so the transitions happen on schedule instead of getting figured out in the moment. If more than one event is booked the same night, each stays contained to its own space with its own sound, so your night runs at its own pace.

Yes. Every rental includes the house furniture inventory: standard banquet tables, white padded folding chairs, cocktail rounds and rolling coat racks. Setup and stacking afterward is handled by your caterer, planner or event team, not the venue.

The house inventory includes 60 inch round tables that seat 6 to 8 guests and 72 inch round tables that seat 8 to 11. Most clients choose the 60 inch rounds: a 72 inch table can leave visible empty space at the center unless you're building a large centerpiece to fill it, and the smaller table keeps the room feeling full.

The Knowlton provides rolling coat racks with room for about 200 coats, included in every rental. There isn't a staffed coat check attendant by default, though your caterer or an outside staffing vendor can supply one if you want full-service coat check.

Yes. The Knowlton has an open catering policy, and clients may work with any licensed and insured caterer who meets the event space requirements.

The Boathouse includes a professional 750 sq ft catering support kitchen with three convection ovens (one double, one single), a double-door glass refrigerator, a small chest freezer, twelve 20-amp electrical circuits, and table height extensions to convert standard tables to counter or bar height. The kitchen is intended for catering support and preparation.

Yes, and caterers should know both before building a menu. No frying of any kind is permitted inside the building, and open flames are not allowed anywhere on the premises, so warming and finishing happen in the catering kitchen and any candles used in decor or ceremonies are battery-operated LED.

Yes. Kosher caterers are welcome at The Knowlton, and the event space can be configured with mechitza draping for Orthodox celebrations. Event logistics are reviewed in advance to ensure religious requirements are met.

It comes down to guest count and floor space. Plated service goes out to every table at once and keeps the room seated, so the program stays on the timeline. A buffet needs stations, and both the queue and the floor they occupy grow with the guest count, so ask about a controlled release, tables called up in order rather than the whole room joining one line at once.

Built-in sound is available throughout The Knowlton, along with color-selectable ambient lighting in The Boathouse, and intelligent lighting is available as an optional add-on run by Nicholson Events. For larger-scale lighting, video, staging, monitors and production needs, The Knowlton works closely with Nicholson Events to ensure safe power management and seamless execution.

Lighting and video production are provided exclusively by Nicholson Events, which covers uplighting, custom lighting design, monitors, projectors and video walls. Everything else is your choice: caterers, planners, bands, DJs, entertainment, photographers and videographers are all welcome, and bands and DJs are encouraged to bring their own sound. Outside entertainers are never a problem, they simply use the house lighting and video rather than bringing their own.

Yes. Enterprise-grade WiFi at The Knowlton supports large-scale connectivity and is well suited to corporate presentations and events with high guest usage.

There are no formal noise restrictions inside The Knowlton. All outside vendors must comply with venue management requests to adjust volume levels if needed, to ensure guest comfort and smooth event flow.

No. Each event space is separated by walls and doors, including a fire door between spaces, so sound doesn't bleed from one event into another even when two events run the same night. Each room's sound system and layout are also managed independently, so your music and the other event's stay contained to their own space.

No. The Boathouse alone has seven gender-neutral restrooms, and each event space has its own facilities, so two events running the same night don't share a line. Restrooms are staffed with an attendant throughout the event.

Yes. A private changing room with a biometric lock is available for the family or wedding party to get ready securely, and separate green rooms are set aside for entertainers like the band, DJ or performers. Keeping these separate means your getting-ready photos and the entertainment setup never overlap.

Yes. The Knowlton offers a private outdoor deck and lawn that can accommodate ceremonies, cocktail hours and select outdoor event moments, paired with a large indoor event space for full-scale celebrations.
