The Artist

Abstract pop artist who built his practice selling paintings on the streets of Soho and Williamsburg.

Michael is a visual artist working in an abstract pop style, who built his early reputation selling paintings directly on the streets of Soho and Williamsburg rather than through gallery representation. The approach is deliberate: an impulsive way of working that skips the conventional gallery path in favour of putting the work straight in front of people.

He is also a novelist. His debut, Animals Don't Pray, was written over several years across Thailand, Costa Rica and California, and follows an antihero through 1990s counterculture, drawing on the gonzo lineage of Bukowski and Hunter S. Thompson. Recent painted work includes Impulsive Iterations, Alien Glyphics and Power.
